AI Seminar Series 2021: Milind Tambe - Multiagent reasoning for social impact

The AI Seminar is a weekly meeting at the University of Alberta where researchers interested in artificial intelligence (AI) can share their research. Presenters include both local speakers from the University of Alberta and visitors from other institutions. Topics can be related in any way to artificial intelligence, from foundational theoretical work to innovative applications of AI techniques to new fields and problems.

On April 23, Milind Tambe (Professor & Director of the CRCS Center at Harvard University, Director "AI for Social Good" at Google Research India) presented "Multiagent reasoning for social impact: Results from deployments for public health and conservation."

In this talk, Milind explores the tremendous opportunity of AI and multiagent systems research in addressing complex societal problems. Milind presents results from work from around the globe -- including HIV prevention, COVID modeling and wildlife conservation -- with the ultimate research goal of facilitating local communities and non-profits to directly benefit from advances in AI tools and techniques.
